Review #31 – Black Raven Brewing Co.’s Mens Room IPA
On this American Beer Review LIVE! review, we are tapping into some nostalgia of our younger beer drinking days. As expected from the beer experts at the The Mens Room and Black Raven Brewing – Mens Room IPA is a classic easy drinking (dare we say crushable?) IPA that will hit perfectly when it’s 5 o’clock somewhere. We don’t forget to raise a glass to the charitable side of this beer, which supports local Fisher Houses.
Episode 44 – Water of Life ft. Source Brewing & Imprint Beer Co.
On this episode of ABR LIVE! (3.0), preambles are back baby! Today we (Alec and Chad mainly) are celebrating the success of Dune 2, with a couple of water themed beers. First up from Source Brewing we have Ocean Water, an ice-style sour ale with a unique color that would’ve been perfect for last month’s St. Pat’s special. We then round out the episode with Schmoojee Squid Ink from Imprint Beer Co., a heavily fruited and THICK smoothie sour, that in fact does not have squid ink in it.

American Beer Review LIVE! – St. Patrick’s Day Special

On today’s American Beer Review LIVE! review, Brian’s feeling strong enough to tackle some wild beer. For this week’s review we bust out the wine opener and pour ourselves some old school beer – Jester King Brewery’s SPON. Three Year Wild Ale.

Episode 42 – Improbability Drive
On this episode of ABR LIVE!, Brian is mostly alive and it’s down to Alec and Chad to attempt to sound like beer aficionados. The probability of this occurring on episode 42 was 8,767,128 to 1 against, yes this is the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Reference Spectacular. While Alec and Chad nerd out they enjoyed a delightful dunkel from Evil Twin Brewing and a stunning sour from Prairie Artisan Ales.
Flight & A Pint #2 – Iron Horse Brewery
On today’s episode of American Beer Review LIVE!, we buckled our seatbelts and headed east towards Ellensburg, Washington – home to Iron Horse Brewery (the folks who make tasty, tasty Irish Death). Joins us while we wrap up our most excellent brewery tour (check our You Tube), with a hand selected flight from Head Brewer Jake Fleming and Community Manager Christina Miller.
On today’s American Beer Review LIVE! review, we return to IPAs with a juicy splash. Today we are gushing about Kettlehead Brewing’s Pulpy New England (Hazy) IPA – there’s a juice box on the can for a reason, a very tasty reason.
Episode #41 – Darkest Before Dawn
Only one more ABR LIVE! episode to go before Chad starts Tavour-ing IPAs again. This week we celebrating the return of 5pm sunsets, and manage to lose track of the time discussing some amazing dark beers. First up today is Barrique Brewing and Blending’s Melange Fonce Dark Farmhouse Ale and a discussion on how best to spend your time in Nashville. We then dig into Indelible Czech Dark Lager from Threes Brewing and talk about Untapped check-ins and ideas about dual-use taprooms.

Episode #40 – We’re Crushering It!
On this episode of American Beer Review LIVE!, Brian dropped his first sci-fi reference in the group chat, time to celebrate. We are digging into a couple brews from two breweries we didn’t have to do any research on – Reuben’s Brew’s Crush the Slopes Hazy IPA and Drekker Brewing’s PRRRTs These Days (Sour Patch Kids) Smoothie Sour.

On this week’s episode of American Beer Review LIVE!, Chad got another Tavour drop based on the can art alone. We start the episode off with a heavy right foot and talk a little off-season NASCAR before we fill our glasses with Yamabiko Rice Lager from New Hokkaido Beverage Co. Meandering our way through some old new articles we end up making new best friends with Hoof Hearted Brewing while tasting and reading about their $60 Nachos Double IPA. Chad admits to stealing a new description for intense IPA flavor from @ihateipas on Tik Tok, Alec and Brian will allow it so as not to bring back the “U” word.

On this ABR LIVE! Review, we are in the presence of royalty. Having coronated King Citra, we are more than pleased to announce his successor – Emperor Citra DDH IPA from Fieldwork Brewing Co. In addition to today’s review, Brian fills us in on the field test of a new IPA theory he’s cooking up.
Episode #37 – The Cookies & DETHcast
On this episode of American Beer Review LIVE!, we are talking crabs, cookies, CFB rankings, and DETH. Brian kicks things off with an important crab handling question, Chad surprisingly keeps the response PG. Our first beer of the day is Ironhorse Brewery’s Cookie Death – another tasty remix of an ABR LIVE! perennial favorite, Quilter’s Irish Death. We dip our toes into some sports punditry and talk about the shortcomings of the 2023 CFB Championship Four and our post-race thoughts on the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. Moving back to beer we crack open, from Revolution Brewing, Cafe DETH – a bold, boozy, barrel aged stout. Alec provides a nifty little factoid about Revolution that could help you on a future Jeopardy appearance. Chad laments his crippling case of Cold-itis.
On today’s ABR LIVE! review, we wrap up a recording session with Fremont Brewing’s Non-Alcoholic (NA) Orange Wit. We are no strangers to NA offerings, but this Orange Wit style really hit the spot for the entire ABR crew. Episode #36 – Sun’s Gone. It’s Cold ft. Black Raven Brewing
We start off with an extra long cold open talking about Brian heading down to last week’s UW/Oregon State football game and talk about some recent PAC-2 developments. We make a smooth transition to our first beer – Black Raven Brewing’s Seasonal IPA, the Q4 offering of their newly-minted seasonal series. (Chad complains about it being dark at 4pm at this point). Next up we talk the relationship alcohol and caffeine have on sleep quality, and look into the results of a study that says pairing the two could potentially help you sleep better? We finish strong with Black Raven’s Second Sight Scotch Ale, mythology talk, and power outage best practices.
